Followership And Leadership
*You are either a follower or a leader. Decide at the outset whether you intend to become a leader in your career. The follower can never be entitled to the goodies and the benefit the leader gets. It is not normal for a follower to get what the leader.
You must not feel disgraced to be a follower. It is remaining a follower that's an issue. Followers are much-maligned, but we're all followers in some areas of our lives. And in that role, we can learn some important skills that make us better leaders.
Most great leader began as follower. They followed intelligently. They were the intelligent follower that became efficient leader. An intelligent follower has more opportunity to acquire knowledge and experience from his leader. He cuts short all those time wasted on try and error. Being a good follower doesn’t make you a “sheep,” Kellerman says. The truth is that most of us are in followership roles regularly, perhaps in our families, social circles, religions, or other settings
In followership you must learn self control. A man who can't control his self cannot control others. You must not be sloven, careless. Good followers learn how to get along with those who have differences while not ignoring those differences.
So also a leader who leads must lead from the front. The trend these days have giving followers more power than the leader, so the leader must know as he leads. Lastly, he that leads must ask the question: Did Steve Jobs really create the iPod and iPhone, or was it the creative collective of team members at Apple? Moreover, leaders, regardless of their level, also need to follow
